In biblical times all roofs were flat. In this parashah we are told that when building a house we must ensure that we make a fence around the roof to prevent anyone falling off (Chapter 22 Verse 8) - Awareness of making things safe for ourselves and others Although this is a biblical law and refers to building a house, nowadays this rule applies to all buildings.

Discussion
What other regulations should builders be aware of with regards to safety?
What other areas can we personally make sure that we are not negligent with?

For example:
  • leaving things around that people may trip over
  • repairing loose carpet edges
  • serving food that is not bad
