Some printing tips

We have designed the site so that you both see it on screen and can also easily print off copies to use.

Accordingly some pages take you to Word documents because we want it to print out in a particular layout.

The following is a guide to printing background colours & only specific frames (useful for other web pages as well!).


Colour backgrounds

Colour backgrounds (including shades of grey) do not automatically print out. However you might want to have the colours, especially on the weekly grid which has different shades for the three different key stages.

  • Internet Explorer
    Click on the browser’s Tools menu. Select Internet Options, then click on the Advanced tab. Scroll down to find the Printing heading and check the box called Print Background Colors and Images. This setting affects both page backgrounds and table cell backgrounds.

  • Netscape Navigator
    Click on the File menu, then select Page Setup, and then in the Page Options section, check Print Backgrounds to include the page background in your printout.

Shades of grey

If you only have a black & white printer you can set the colour up as above so that the shades of grey print out.

If you have a colour printer but only want to print out in black & white and print the shades of grey, set your browser up as above and then in the printer settings (differs according to your individual printer) set it to print black & white or greyscale.

Frames

If you do not want to print the bottom navigation frame on each page:

  • In Internet Explorer
    Choose Print, Click "Only the selected frame" (you may have to go to the Options Tab first), before clicking OK

  • In Netscape click in the main frame, then choose Print, make sure "The selected frame" is ticked before clicking OK
