In September 1998, a dream came true in Hertsmere with the opening of the borough's first orthodox Jewish primary school. Now in its brand-new state-of-the-art premises surrounded by the fields and woods of its green-belt site, Hertsmere JPS is continuing to fulfil expectations by providing Nursery, Reception, Years One and Two classes with an education of the highest standards, both religious and secular. |

Intellectual, Social and Spiritual
The school is committed to promoting the intellectual, social and spiritual growth of the children
as individuals - and is uniquely poised to do so - with all the enthusiasm and modern resources of a
new school, drawing on the experiences of Jewish education in London over the years. As a new venture,
we are able to attract staff of the highest calibre, and our Head Teacher, Michèle Bazak, whose
experience and dedication were invaluable during the opening of the school, expanded her Senior
Management Team in September with the appointment of Michael Cohen, our Head of Jewish Studies.
Behind the scenes, a very active and dedicated Board of Governors and PTA ensure that all aspects
of the school are developed to provide a community institution to meet the needs and aspirations of
all. The success of the staff as a whole can be seen in the classrooms, which are full of very happy,
self-confident children who are learning to a very high academic standard in all areas of the curriculum.
Reputation
Since its inception, Hertsmere JPS has been consistently and significantly over-subscribed,
as a tribute to its reputation both locally and in North-West London. In September, our oldest
children began Year Three, and 31st October is the closing date for receiving applications for places
in our Nursery for September 2001.
