The Soviet Jewry Committee retains an interest in Jews of Belarus. It helps raise funds to support Jewish communal institutions in this country, which is the territory where the old Pale of Settlement was. It also offers humanitarian aid to the elderly and the sick.

Belmont hosts a range of educational programmes throughout the year. Rabbi Roselaar leads a weekly Talmud shiur on Thursday nights, invariably enhanced by a tot of whisky! He gives a fortnightly ladies shiur on Monday evenings and there is a daytime shiur for ladies on alternate Tuesday mornings.

The community regularly holds events such as Pre-Pesach seminars, Project Seed, Holocaust education evenings, learning breakfasts, Shabbatonim and regular explanatory services.
The Social and Cultural Club for the senior members of the community meets fortnightly in the shul. Many of our retired members gain a lot of pleasure from volunteering to help in everything from the Brownies to our welfare work

All female members of the Shul are automatically members of the Ladies Guild. There is a small executive of about eight who hold about ten meetings per year. We are a friendly group and would welcome new members. We organise weekly Kiddushim, provide a Seudah for Simchat Torah, flowers and refreshments for the Tikkun Leil Shavout, organise the printing of the Shul calendar and run an annual Supper Quiz for ladies. Any help in any capacity would be very welcome.
