Being a Jewish student in Birmingham is an great experience. There are several universities and colleges in Birmingham, but most Jewish students are in one the three main city universities: Birmingham University, Aston University and University of Central England. Birmingham Jewish Society, also known as J-Soc, part of the nationwide Union of Jewish Students, organises all kind of events, social, religious, solidarity to Israel... Jewish life on campus is centred around Hillel House, located on the Birmingham University campus. Glatt kosher Friday night meals are held there every week and it also hosts most of the parties, talks and other events organised by J-Soc. Everybody is catered for, from the most religious to the more secular student. Look out for the annual amazing Purim party, or, on a more spiritual level, the Shavuot study night! There is also a wealth of activity such as a Jewish football team, Ulpan, religious education...

Rabbi Fishel Cohen is the University chaplain. He is the person to talk to for any Jewish matters, or if you have any questions about J-Soc activities.

Rabbi Margaret Jacobi is the University Chaplain for Progressive Judaism and she will be more than happy to be contacted by students interested in progressive Judaism.

For the HUNGRY students, Bertie's Bagels is always here to serve, 24/6, to deliver delicious shawarma or bagels at your door... it's the only kosher delivery service in Birmingham!

Outside Jewish life, Birmingham is a thriving city, and there is something for everyone here!

If you are a future university Student, whether secular or religious, whether you want to get involved in Jewish completely or just a bit, Birmingham is the place for YOU!!
