
Rabbi Barry Marcus
Rabbi Barry Marcus is a descendent of the Taz,
born in South Africa. He has lectured at the
University of Witwartersgrand and Yeshiva College
in Johannesberg, where he also founded and
directed a Crisis Centre. He served as Rabbi
of one of the largest communities in
Johannesberg and also in Israel, before
becoming Rov of the Central Synagogue in
Great Portland Street. This synagogue is
experiencing a revitalisation, with a wide
range of activities and Shiurim including
adult education classes, a Young Executive
Club, Children's Services and a Friendship
Club. The Central Synagogue is extremely
popular with visitors from abroad and many
London university students.
