On this page we're asking those of you who no longer live in the community to
let us have your reminiscences of Kingsbury. We were prompted to do this
by the following email we recently received.
I
read through the Kingsbury Synagogue website with some nostalgia. My parents,
Daphne and Stanley Maynard, have been members of the shul since 1948, and I
lived in Kingsbury from 1950 to 1975. I went to the Kingsbury Synagogue
Kindergarten in 1954 and the Kosher meals in the shul when I was at Kingsbury
Green School. I am celebrating the 40th anniversary of my Barmitzvah this
Shabbos Bereishis - it took place in the old shul, in what is now the communal
hall.
Best
wishes,

What a wonderful idea! Memories of the Kingsbury
community.
I have not moved far...Kenton! My memories are vivid.
My late parents were stalwarts of the shul, Thelma and Eddie Stuart. My
father was Secretary for many years. Prior to that I remember Hebrew Classes
held in Eden Lodge after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Sunday
mornings.
Sticky buns and orange squash were sold prior to the
class. Spencer Nathan was my teacher!
Of course those who went to Primary and Secondary
schools in the area will remember Kosher dinners. Fab meals for a shilling!
I also went to Kingsbury Youth Club which was held in
the shul. As a youngster there was Bnai Akiva often supervised by the Vanson
girls.
My brother , Simon, now living in Israel was an
active member of the shul until he made the move to Israel, like so many
past members
