OrganisationsAlthough not such a large community, we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of organisations, to cater for all tastes.
JNF
- collects funds for tree planting in Israel. Main Shabbos appeal on Tu B'shvat. Jewish
Care Committee -
has regular functions to raise money for Jewish Care, the major Anglo-Jewish
Welfare body. The committee is very successful. Has regular social and
fundraising functions including Supper Quizzes, Treasure Hunts, Novelty Suppers
etc.
Chairman: Mr. Malcolm Cowen. Kindergarten - attracts
children from the whole of North West London. Has consistently received
excellent OFSTED reports. Headmistress: Mrs. Sonia Shaw Mikva - The only United Synagogue Mikva is open every night (Friday night by appointment) and for men on Erev Rosh Hashanah and Erev Yom Kippur. There is also a Keli Mikva situated in synagogue grounds which
is always accessible. Chevra
Kadisha - first
voluntary Chevra Kadisha in the United Synagogue. Holds a yearly Seudah (dinner)
on
the 7th of Adar. The guest speaker at this year's Seudah was
Rabbi Zvi Wanderer. Gabbay: Mr. Stephen Phillips. Ladies'
Guild - Arranges
Kiddushim, organises parcels on Pesach and Rosh Hashanah for needy families
living in less prosperous areas of London, decorations on Shavuos, Hamentashen
on Purim and Simchas Torah party. Holds regular fundraising events. Chairperson:
